Around a week after Jean was in hospital, a call came through from John Fleming. His article for Ornamentum was ready and he would like to drop off a couple copies – including the books and her portfolio of drawings and paintings used to research the article.

Jean had just been moved to the Step Down unit and was in need of cheering up.  I told John this was the best medicine!  She was thrilled to see the cover and looked through the articles as I turned the pages.

A week later on the 22nd of May, feeling much better, she was back in the Step Down after being in the Intensive Care.  Judith Tinkl came to visit and while they were chatting, I asked Jean to hold up some of her reading material – the Ethel Currie book and Ornamentum magazine.  We had fun with a little bedside photo session while the sun was streaming in through the east windows.
